For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 117 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 117 | Does anyone know of a source of reproduction hood hinges for Deco COE's? I think they are the same on the AD's but not positive. I have one that is not too bad (I would use it) and one that is really badly rusted and pitted. I would like to replace them but haven't found any as of yet. Any help greatly appreciated. I don't think they will. They are not reproduced. You may want to place an ad in the "Parts Wanted" section. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 117 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 117 | I'm not sure either, I just was looking at some pic's on the web and they look to be similar. There are rights and lefts on the 46 and earlier with 2 bolts that hold them to the cowl and 3 bolts to attach to the hood with a clutch head hinge pin. If I had a good chrome shop within a hundred miles of me I might have them repolished and rechromed, no such luck though. Guess I'll have to figure out "plan B". | | | | | Joined: Jul 2006 Posts: 584 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jul 2006 Posts: 584 | There are none reproduced that I know of. I'm not positive, but 99% sure they do not interchange with the next generation. One thing you might consider that looks close is some of the same era car trunk hinges. They are notably different, but when mounted, probably not all that far off. Just a thought that ran across my head when I considered looking for a nice set. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2010 Posts: 476 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2010 Posts: 476 | MY HINGES WERE VERY RUSTED WITH LARGE PITS, SO I JUST SANDED THEM DOWN WITH A BELT SANDER TO THE POINT THE TAPPED HOLES BROKE THRU THE TOP AND I HAD TO WELD THEM AND SAND SOME MORE. THEN I PAINTED THEM WITH CHOME PAINT. I DON'T HAVE THE $$ FOR THE REAL THING | | |
