The light is the same for Suburbans 1947/55 and almost the same for the task force years 1955/59 with the clamshell tailgate. The only real difference is the lens (glass vs plastic) and the rod that allows the light to pivot and stay in the down position.

$300.00 The difference between the station wagon and the suburban tail light, is the base, the rod and the rod bracket. Canopy man has the correct light and if you notice the base is round and the bracket that extends beyond the light. That is where the rod goes into. The station wagon base is more square and the bracket is shorter. Everything else is the same, the R-13 light base, the chrome trim, the glass lens, the license plate holder and the hinge piece that the base attaches to.
The station wagon light will fit, but without the correct rod bracket and rod, it will not pivot correctly.
