Hi Guys,
Wondering about putting two carter yf's on my 235. Think this is a good setup? Autozone sells these for about $100 with the core charge added in. Any thoughts ( money is no object, HA HA). Will there be any modifications needed or is this a good combo. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Carbking may chime in here but I'll tell you what I've found out. The YFs are a good choice for duals on a 235. The thing you want to watch for is to get the right YF. I know they made a bunch of different kinds. (this is where carbking will help out) Also they have to be identical carbs to function properly. I'd say go for it, should work out well for you.

You might want to contact carbking directly for his input.

Good Luck
George

Do a search on Carter YF posted by carbking. There is a listing of the various YF's that were used as replacement for Chevrolet.

Pay attention to the throttle size (2 or 3, center to center 2 11/16 or 2 15/16 inches) required by your manifold.

Trying to adjust the non-Chevrolet YF's will cost more (even if they are given to you!!!) than starting with the carbs with the Chevrolet fuel curve.

Jon.

Good carburetion is fuelish hot air
The most expensive carburetor is the wrong one you attempt to modify.

Watch out on those reman YF's!! I had a pair form Tomco that were supposed to be for Chevrolet. One turned out be a ferd carb. The innards are slightly different, mainly the needle and jet. Parts seem to be hard to get if you need to convert ont to Chevy spec. I ended up putting Holleys on my 235, and am much happier with them.

If you do find a matched set, they run nice. I've got a matched pair of 216 YF's on an Edelbrock manifold on my 216 and I've been real happy with it. Runs real good with no hesitation or lag whatsoever.

But I'm going to be switching manifold and carbs soon. I've run this setup for about 4 years now and it's time for a change. I've got a Weiand manifold and will be running a pair of Carter W-1's, #574s. I like to fiddle with things so I'll see how this setup works.

Hey guys thanks for your info. Have a Sharp manifold and been dying to put it on but have been scared to mess with the Rochesters I have.
Will linkage and fuel lines hookup similiar to the rochesters?

If anyone thinks of anything else I should know about, any info is appreciated. I love the way we all help each other out. I hope to be able to help some other Stovebolter out some day!
