I need the overall length, length between each level indicator, and length from end tip (bottom) to top plug. I am planning on fabricating an aftermarket dipstick. Thanks, guys.

| | | | | Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 9,671 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 9,671 | I seem to remember a discussion about this a while back and the tube length was given. mine measures 6" outside of the casting, you would add the depth of the counter bore to that. You can use one of those 3/8" made up brake lines from you FLAPS for the tube.
Then to calibrate the dip stick just simply add four quarts and mark it one quart low, then add that last quart and mark it full.

Over the years I have collected a bunch of dipsticks from engines I have bought, trashed, and rebuilt. They are all from 216 or 235 engines. They are different looks and lengths. I have always wondered how to tell which goes to what.
