Made a coffee stop and when I tried to re-start, smoke came out of the starter...
The battery cables where super hot, too...
I took the starter out and had it rebuilt, thinking I fried it. I recharged the battery, re-installed the starter, new (thick) battery cables and... nothing happens...
Not a click, not a movement from the starter.
What should I do next?
Could the regulator be involved?
Any input would be appreciated, fellas!

If it has a start solenoid, is the start wire from the switch or push button connected to the correct terminal? NO click sounds like you have a solenoid starter. If so 'no click' is definitely a solenoid, switch or wireing issue. | | |

Joined: Oct 2005 Posts: 4,252 | First things first, make sure you have voltage all the way to the starter. If you do, you can activate the starter with a pry bar right at the starter. If you don't, check your wiring. Especially your ground. Starters can be bench tested! | | |

I would add what IBHoggin said about checking the starter switch too. It's easy to remove and dirt simple. Whoever rebuilt your started should have bench tested it but unless you there watching you don't know so if all else fails I would pull it and test it.
