It is a 6 cyl of course and the number I got from behind the dist is LAS 447301 I see numbers on various sites but I am not seeing any very close to this one and I know you guys know your stuff on this also what was the correct color for this engine?? I understand color is not an easy answer.

I know the engine runs great though it is underpowered when the truck is loaded down. If it truly is a '53 PG motor it is the very first of the full-pressure oiled 235's and should be equipped with hydraulic lifters. Should be a good engine for your truck. Should I get head numbers? if this is a 235 car engine does that mean it would be a Blue Flame? I am glad to hear this is a suitable truck engine I understand there were a couple more versions of this engine in this same time frame. When I get time I want to pull it out of there and repaint it the entire truck needs a restore for that matter

If it is a '53 powerglide there should be a pair of raised marks cast into the block. Some Chev historians claim the first Blue Flame appeared on the '53 Corvette. Other's say it began with the first P/G equipped cars with the 235 (1950).
