For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jul 2006 Posts: 482 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jul 2006 Posts: 482 | Removed hinges on my '57 and cleaned them up down to bare metal. What finish did they hare on them from the factory? What finish should I put on them to prevent them from rusting? I've sprayed clear on bare metal parts before only to have them rust under the clear. | | | | | Joined: Jul 2001 Posts: 3,887 Cruising in the Passing Lane | | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Jul 2001 Posts: 3,887 | originals were a cad plate sort of finish - I like high-zinc [weld thru] primer, has a similar appearance

High zinc weld thru primer: what is it and where do I get it? | | | | | Joined: Jul 2001 Posts: 3,887 Cruising in the Passing Lane | | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Jul 2001 Posts: 3,887 | my area it's in rattle cans at the FLAPS, various brands available - might also be labeled as "cold galvanize" paint, any of them are about 90% zinc solids, very good anti-rust

Anyways, I'm looking and can always revert to buying something from Eastwood. Just wanted to get as much expert advice as I can before I spend a bunch of money on products. Thanks.
