The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area The Electrical Bay wiper motor mount bracket

I got a 6 volt wiper motor from Classic Parts. It came with a twisty shaped "L" support bracket that wasn't mentioned in the installation instructions. I drilled a bolt hole in the cowl bracket and slightly bent the unmentioned bracket. I attached it to the cowl bracket and at the base of the motor at the ajustment screw. Seems to do the job.
Anybody else deal with this and/or do something different?

Yes! Davey what year? I have a 51'GMC and when I got it the great New port unit was mounted to the cowel vent bracket.What a mess!I had some heating and bending to do on the other wise perfect parts,The two original wiper motor mounts had to be "tweeked" and I straightened the "twisty shaped L" and came off the firewall to dash steering column support bracket. jimmy

Good to hear from you, Jimmy. The Blue Funk is a '51, also. Chevy. I had the dash all apart, playing with the gauges and speedometer, putting in a new headlight switch, putting in speakers, and putting in the electric wiper motor. Having to make some modifications in such a finite space, like moving the manual choke control, I was concerned that my rigged job might prove to be stumbling bolck in the end. HOWEVER, everything is back together and working fine. Sounds like you had to do quite a bit of work, but yours turned out well, also.
