Speed doesn't have a lot to do with voltage, once the alternator is turning fast enough to develop any charge current at all. Under the cover on the regulator, there will be two coils of wire, with contact points attached to them. One is simply a relay- - - - -don't fool with that one. The other coil will have a set of points held closed by a spring, and the spring mount has a Phillips screw for voltage adjustment. GENTLY tighten the screw (clockwise) to increase the voltage, and put the cover back on temporarily so you get an accurate reading. DO NOT allow the cover to come into contact with any of the internal workings of the regulator or it will be smoke time. When the voltage adjustment is correct, the voltmeter should read 14.5 to 14.7 volts with the alternator charging against a fully-charged battery. Be sure the battery is charged up all the way before making any regulator adjustments.
