I peeled away and threw out the old carpet this weekend and found an unusual sight. To make a long story short, I have found a very very small leak where the clutch rod goes through the firewall. The rubber boot that should go there is nowhere to be found. Is the rubber boot responsible for keeping the fluid where the fluid is supposed to be? When I push in my clutch, should there always be a small amount of fluid come back that the boot captures and recirculates back onto the rod? Again this is a very small leak but over time has made a very big mess on the floorpan. I thank you in advance for any insight.

If there is any fluid in the boot it is leaking out of the vmaster cyl. They are easy to put a kit in. It's a good idea to do the slave cyl at the same time. These rubber parts get more wear then brakes because there is a lot of movement. On brakes you are mostly applying pressure. The cyls. stay in better condition they don't get a chance to corrode in the active area. They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing. 1972 Chevy c10 Cheyenne SuperIn the Gallery Forum | | | | | Joined: Nov 2009 Posts: 119 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Nov 2009 Posts: 119 | Thanks for your help guys.
