Anybody that can help me decipher it.There also seems to be what is called captians bars above the starter. I am new to this, I really havent turned a wrench in 25 years. I don't show a listing a Q, could it be G instead? LAG comes up as Passenger car, I have no btransmission breakdown on codes for '53, so a bit more investigation on casting numbers will be needed to determine if it's a manual trans or 'Glide engine. The 'Glide version is more desireable due to the full pressure oiling and more horsepower.

Depends on what is special to you.
It is an "odd-ball" engine - a transitional engine:
- First high-pressure 235
- Only high-pressure 235 with older 2-bolt valve cover
- All other 235s that year were low-pressure
- All 235s in previous years were low pressure (with 2-bolt valve covers)
- All 235 in future years were high pressure (with 4-bolt valve cover)
A version of that engine (using mechanical lifers and special carburetors and manifolds) was used in the first Corvette.

BelAir, Series 2400 That's why it isn't listed in my spec book, it only covers the 150 series (sedan delivery) as it is primarily a truck spec guide.
