On the factory VIN tag of several of the '60-'66 Chevy/GMC trucks that I have, there are two capital letters "DD" on the top of the VIN tag. What do these mean?

DD = Double Duti (forward control delivery chassis)

tclederman:

Thanks for the reply, but this is on several of the light-duty '60-'66 Chevy trucks I have, including C10, C20, C30, K10 & K20 models, which are not considered forward control models. I am trying to find a reference to it in any of my Truck Dealer Manuals, Silver Books, etc., to no avail.

Tony,

This site: MSA-1 says it means Delivery Date. Does that sound right?

I read the information on the site and it stands to reason that it would mean the same on the trucks as the cars, however, I would like to see it decoded on a truck VIN. This is the best reference I have yet to see, on this site and a few others where I posted the same question.

I wonder if it had to do with a sold order(customer order) versus a vehicle ordered for dealer inventory. May explain the random sightings

on the crew cab that I just picked up, it had a DD on the serial plate. It was an ordered vehicle, so it will stand for either date of delivery or delivery date

There you have it, Ron. I guess that's what it means.
