I will be swapping in a 250 and auto trans in the 51 3600. The engine I have has a offy 2x1 with rebuilt carbs and complete linkage. Does anyone have experience with the overdrive automatic and an inline six multi carb set up?
This will be a daily driver with both my wife and daughter behind the wheel from time to time. So I'm not entirely sold on the multi carbs but they came with the engine so if it can be done I may try it.
Jim | | | | | Joined: Feb 2001 Posts: 4,095 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2001 Posts: 4,095 | I will address the carbs. i have dual carbs on my 54/235 with fenton headers and 2.73 rear end and a t-5 overdrive tranny. your gas milage will suffer until you are in overdrive. i drove to Kansas City in sept. and got a high of 23.5 and an average of 20 mpg. i have cruise and drove a lot at 65-70. around town i get 12-13. i wish i had gone the auto route but when i started the rebuild it was to be a freshening and got out of hand. i never intended to spend the money i did, a auto would not have been out of place. ron
