I am getting ready to setup my dual Carter Webers and I would like some pictures and advice on how to run my fuel lines.

I have a couple of questions:

1. Does the fuel line from the pump need to be pressure regulated?

2. Do the fuel lines have to be equal in length?

3. Has anyone used a fuel rail for this application?

Thanks for any help you can provide!

My carter-webbers jammed the floats or needle/seat valves at high rpm's and then flooded until I tapped gently on the carb with a screw driver handle near where the fuel line came in. Then I put a regulator on and set it to 3.5 and havn't had any problems since.

I used brake line, a tee- and compression fittings for the pump-carb lines. I put brass 90 degree elbows in the carb that were male pipe and female compression seats. I located the tee near the first carb, used a short straight piece of brakeline from the tee to the first carb and ran a j-shaped line from the tee to the back carb. Later the fuel regulator was put between the tee- and the pump.

I'm using the mechanical fuel pump and I think it's 3/8ths steel brake line. I bought one 5' length from napa, it came with two compression fittings.

I also got the fuel pressure regulator, tee, two '90 degree male pipe to female compression seats' and 6 extra compression nuts at napa.

You will also need a brass male pipe to female compression seat for the fuel pump.

I got a pipe cutter, a small metal file, dual flare kit and pipe bender from Harbor Freight, and they all worked fine and were cheaper than other places.

While you are at it, you can replace the fuel line from the tank to the fuel pump if you want and also incorporate a piece of flexible hose between the pump and the metal line.

NM51,

Thanks for the information. Do you know the NAPA part number for the fuel pressure regulator? Any chance you could post a link to a picture of the carbs' plumbing?

Thanks, Tim

There's nothing special about the fuel regulator. The one I used was on display with their performance/dress up parts. You can find them at most FLAPS and definately all the vendors. Here's a link to a picture of one similar to what I got but from Speedway.

I don't have any pictures of the set up with the regulator as I just added it but I can take some and e-mail them in the next couple of days.

That looks just like the Purolator one I got from Advance Auto or Auto Zone for about $15 bucks. Gonna use it on my plumbing also.
