the wife don't like the clutch, I told
her it was designed back when broads
were not allowed to drive, you'll get
used to it.

Is there a kit, or has someone added a
Hydraulic clutch to one of these old
trucks. 1965 C20

it's too hard, my leg shakes if I try to hold it in.
I doubt I'll change it from Stock, just pondering.

Changing to hydraulic wont help. The pressure plate is probably too stout. The rebuilt ones we used to get you never knew what they were going to be like. Practically all clutches we gewt now are new & more consistant. There is 2 grooves in the clutch fork. If you use the outer one you can gain some leverage. Check all the linkage to make sure its not wore out.

Like wrenchbender said, I don't think a hydaulic setup would be any easier. If you don't use the truck for pulling heavy loads all the time, you may be able to put a smaller clutch. You most likely have the 11" clutch in there now, and a 10" would probably do all you need. Alot of the flywheels were drilled for both patterns, you could drop the dust cover and see if yours has both. Just a thought. Best of luck.

Here's a link to the hydraulic setup I used in my 1960. Something similar could easily be done in a 66. I found the components I'm running provide a considerably lighter pedal pressure than the original setup. I'm running a Centerforce clutch, Girling master cylinder and a Novak slave cylinder. I have chronic back pain and a bad knee, so a light clutch is essential to keeping a stick shift in my rig.

I think he's just scared his wife will show him how to properly drive the beast.... I know my wife with her 63 could make him look bad.

LOL I asked for it but I doubt there are many that
out ride, out drive, out jump or out anything that
has an engine, wheels or a track. Sorry for the
chauvinistic remark, I'll leave the broads out of
my postings from here on in. I am going to leave
the clutch as is, she is a farm girl and will learn to
handle it

It's all in fun...however, if the time comes, don't look my wife in the eyes..... just hang your head low and say "yes Mam"

Check the strength of the spring on the fork-to-the-frame and on the pedal-to-the-mounting brace. One may be too strong and the other too weak or the reverse. This may help a little.

I have had a few that are very stiff and a few that seems entirely too soft, so I think there are many variables, that may dictate the stiffness.

Good luck.
