Alright, I've done a search of the forums, and I'm still not quite sure what makes up the A/D. Is it the spare tire, the seat, the year of the truck? If I were to be sitting on my bench and a Stove drove past, what would key me in to know it was an A/D?

It's the body style 47 to 54 looked mostly the same ,some things were changed thru the years like in 51 they started putting in vent windows if you look in the gallery section it's by year so you'll see.

You need to look at the body style. This particular style began in 1947 and went to the end of 1954, the last ones were sold as '55s.

I looked in The Gallery,(47-54 1st/2nd) and so I would say then, that I have an A/D truck. {55 1st series.}

Also, I think it technically that series is named "Advance Design", present tense. No harm, no foul. Just pointing it out since you were asking about them.

I agree with Hankdogg, Thanks for sharing! After reading the articles, I have and idea of the paint colors that were available in 1954/55 and apply that knowledge when I get around to painting my truck. Good solid information! Always interested in the history of these great looking trucks.
