You can also stop by and oldtime mechanic that knows his stuff and he should set you straight as well. In my state, for example, a truck that old just needs a bill of sale, and a licensed mechanic to fill out a special form which confirms the ID of the vehicle, in order to register the truck. A state policeman can also confirm the vin or ID number of the truck.
