I suggest contacting the Kentucky DMV for complete details on what you need to do. You can also stop by and oldtime mechanic that knows his stuff and he should set you straight as well. In my state, for example, a truck that old just needs a bill of sale, and a licensed mechanic to fill out a special form which confirms the ID of the vehicle, in order to register the truck. A state policeman can also confirm the vin or ID number of the truck. I suspect that Kentucky may not be a strict as say a California or NY for registrations.

In Missouri & Kansas you can register and license a truck that is over 35 years old with a Bill of Sale and a MVE-1 form (Motor Vehicle Examination) and $10.00.

As stated above, you should check with your state DMV for their specific guidelines. Good luck.
