The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Driveline TASK FORCE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH

I am new to these truck and have just started a 1959 Apache 3200 project. My question is about the brake light switch mounted on the engine side of firewall. Is the lever arm suppose to be spring loaded and press against the brake pedal rod that connects pedal to master cylinder. On mine the arm is not seized but does not return to a set position on its own.

yes it is spring loaded, held down by the pedal arm until depressing the brake pedal allows it to 'spring' into the energized position

and if you want to replace yours, a local parts place should have it, one make is Cole Hersee # 8487

HaHa, I was in Detroit last summer for the Woodward Dream Cruise and noticed mine had broke. Visited or called all the chains, a vintage car supplier and finally found one about 30 miles away in Allen Park after going to the library to use the internet and hit the chains websites. I was glad to go get it.
