i have a 59 235 truck engine that soon will becoming home from being rebuilt. this enine will be replacing the original 235 splash in the 51 dump. ive gotton most or know where to get the parts to have a complete running engine prior to putting it in the truck come spring. i need to upgrade the oil pressure gage from 0-30 to 0-60. is the oil gage in the cluster replaceable or do i need to replace the whole cluster with a later cluster. i know on my 40 i can get seperate replacements.

51-

I have a similar set-up, with a '59 235 in a '49 1/2-ton. I chose to keep my old gauge. The gauge runs "pegged" at 30 psi all the time, but it doesn't seem to hurt anything. Switching the gauge is optional.

tim, thanks i didnt look far enough back in the carter book.

49er, i have to switch the gage. i run a small power plant and need to have a gage that reads properly. ive seen gages that failed pegged giving the impression there's pressure in a line when there there isnt any. on a lubrication system, that pressure indicates flow. no pressure = no flow and that can be costly.
