I have a similar set-up, with a '59 235 in a '49 1/2-ton. I chose to keep my old gauge. The gauge runs "pegged" at 30 psi all the time, but it doesn't seem to hurt anything. Switching the gauge is optional.

49er, i have to switch the gage. i run a small power plant and need to have a gage that reads properly. ive seen gages that failed pegged giving the impression there's pressure in a line when there there isnt any. on a lubrication system, that pressure indicates flow. no pressure = no flow and that can be costly. | | |
