For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Nov 2009 Posts: 72 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2009 Posts: 72 | I've read some threads where it was mentioned that one should not use "old" lifters with a New/Re-ground Camshaft. Are there serious consequences? I have Solid Lifters and they seem to be in Good shape. I mean Brand Spankin' New ones aren't that expensive,($85-90 for 12) but if I can use the ones I've got..Why not? Thanks! If you look at service manuals, lifters must be kept in order to be be able to put them back in the same hole. It makes no difference what engine you are working on, you should never put used lifters on a new cam. | | | | | Joined: Nov 2009 Posts: 72 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2009 Posts: 72 | Took a look and I will be buying new lifters. Thanks for the info! Been away from tinkering with engines for quite some time, so I am slowly catching up to speed and learning about stovebolts as I putter forward. | | |
