old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Nov 2009 Posts: 32 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Nov 2009 Posts: 32 | Anybody had any custom work done in Southern Illinois? Word of mouth isn't getting me anywhere. The couple I have found around here do good for solid body colors but send the custom work off, out of state to finish them. I would really like to have a face and a name to go with the work. Keep it local if I can,.... | | | | | Joined: Jan 2008 Posts: 502 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2008 Posts: 502 | I don't know how much custom you mean but it would seem like there would be a shop in Effingham that could handle what you want and thats not to far north of you. Have had some names up north but noone that wants this much custom work. Think my Uncle was with the 101 in Vietnam, thank you twice Bill. | | | | | | ZooKeeper Unregistered | | ZooKeeper Unregistered | You could try... Creative Customs 8934 Riverview Dr. Saint Louis, MO, 63137 314-867-1395 Bill has put together some wild customs & the shop seems to know how to lay down the paint and graphics.. He has had several of his cars in mags, at SEMA and even at the Playboy Mansion. Here's one of the many cars that he owns & built The Pink Freak and if you look through his webshots page I'm sure you'll find more the cars/trucks his shop has done... | | | | | Joined: Aug 2008 Posts: 403 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Aug 2008 Posts: 403 | I think going to car shows and talking to people who have had work done is the best way to learn who is good at doing things that you want done. PS: I do not know how close to Kansas you are but Daryl Starbird does some outstanding work in KC. There is a couple of guys around Chicago but can't remember theeir names right now.

It just begs to ask if it all came out of one mind or a bunch of people bouncing ideas around. That isn't the drastic custom I was looking to create, but the paint and graphics are as good as I could hope. Think I may drive the hour plus to go have a chat, all he can give me is sticker shock. BTW, love the tapper between the seats. Every Southern Illinois boy needs one of those. | | | | | | ZooKeeper Unregistered | | ZooKeeper Unregistered | I just gave you that example because it was something I knew he did. I'm sure he can "tone" it down for you no matter if it's just paint & graphics you want. I would bet Bill has a binder full of pictures of what his shop has built & painted. And like you said at the very most all he can do is shock you w/a price. I personally have never had anything done by him but have seen some of the work that has been done at the shop. Ken come on by if you decide to come into St Louis, I just live about 10 minutes from downtown...Joe | | | | | Joined: Nov 2009 Posts: 32 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Nov 2009 Posts: 32 | St Louis is only about an Hour and twenty minutes so any shows this side of the state line are game this year. I only have a few dates filled so far, so if they have any going on over there give me a shout. I would love to meet some more Bowties. Ken | | |
