I am looking for advice on what most people use to prep and paint the floor of their trucks. Doesn't need to be a show winner finish, but want it to be close to original without paying a lot. Do most sandblast the metal, or just rough it up, prime and repaint with rust-o-leum paint? Current condition is what you would normally see in a truck that is mid 50's and never been touched. But the floors are solid, the cab corners do need fixed, as with about all the 50's cabs. Thanks for the help! Niobrarafun

If you're repairing the cab corners anyway and planning on painting I would suggest you check out Lizardskin. They have two products; one that is a sound deadner - supposedly kickass good. They also have a heat insulating product. I'd suggest you do that and THEN put a Rustoleum paint over it. That's what I'm planning.

Put a coat of roll on bedliner material on mine. Tough stuff and holds up well. Not a bad look either.

Just finished using POR 15 trunk/floor kit and it came out awesome. Check their website vs. Jim Carter for the best price. Use this code with Por web or phone for 10% savings HMN1209.

Just FYI, you can get POR15 on Epay from Eastwood, sometimes they have can & even full kits on sale at much less than most folks. The kit is a the best buy, the clean & prep chemicals are all there, & one small can of POR puts down a lot of coverage.
Simple prep work, and if you have any pinholes, or even screw holes you want to fill in just lay down a little fiberglass mat and paint over it like resin. Have known people to fix badly rusted floors that way too. Dries to a smooth glossy coat that is darned near bullet proof too.
I have it on my trans cover in the cab, diff cover, oil pan, and valve cover, and I'm planning on doing the whole interior under the dash & behind the seat/tank.

I dig all cars, old and new, whether they were hammered out of American iron, German steel, or Japanese tin cans. Being unable to appreciate them all is missing out on a world of great things.
But thats just MY opinion!
