I am finishing my brake lines and was wondering about the little copper squash washers. On both the front and rear a bolt goes through either a bango connection or a brass block to connect the flexible line in the front and the hard line in the rear. Do you put one of these squash washers on both sides of the banjo connection or just as a washer between the bolt and the banjo connection ? | | |

Every "vintage" brake system I've ever worked on used crush washers. Joe

if you don't use a crush washer (kinda like the washer found on spark plugs) crush washers can be made of alum or copper and have a rubber or neopreem inner.
and
you use a standard washer suited for this purpose (ie alum or copper plain washer) make sure the plain washer is flat on both sides. ie slid it down a very fine file on both sides w/ your finger just to see where or if it has any high spots. many of these washers (depending on there manufacturers) 'stamp' them from sheets of material and that can 'cup' the washer.
if you don't tighten them (and don't overtighten) they can leak.
