I'm going to buy a nice used 92 LT1 with 6 speed manual tranny, computer, hydraulic clutch parts, for $1200. It will be going into my 69 chevy pickup. I know it will bolt right in for the most part. The questions I have are- where is the best and most cost effective place to buy a wiring harness? And, also, who is good at re-flashing the computer? And... Any info, pictures, links, etc. will be appreciated. Why would you need to re-flash the computer, it should be a removable EPROM for a 92. Westers Garage, RAM, Hypertech, or Street and Performance can help.
If you really want to spend money on a wiring harness, then go with painless wiring.

Get a GM shop manual for wireing information use the mass air flow sensor and you will not need to reprogram. I did get a hyper tech programer to correct my speedometer. I've read it and though I've not yet done a swap, it made me much more confident that I can do the one I have planned. EFI Swaps BookIt does not cover every detail of every swap, but does cover all the concepts and offers lots of advice on how to approach a swap like this. Before you put down money on that car you need to think through the transmission crossmember. I don't know how you intend to deal with that problem, but a Corvette has a torque arm that extends from the transmission to the differential and does not have a conventional transmission crossmember. The Corvette manual transmission used before the 6-speed does not have provision for a mount pad. I don't know what that 6-speed looks like, or if it has a pad for a crossmember. I do know most people throw that 6-speed away rather than rebuild it.

I've just seen everywhere that I'll have to re-flash, I don't know. I won't be getting the stock harness because the entire car harness is going to be sold to someone that had a fire. Believe it or not, I found the painless harness on jcwhitney for 600 bucks- 400 cheaper than competitors. Can that be right? I don't know about the trans. mount either. I have metal, saws, grinders, welders..
