I just rebuilt my 1960 Chevy C10 Master cylinder with the brake and clutch. The rebuild kit is the same for both sides.

I looked in the 1960 Shop manual on page 11-5 for help rebuilding the master. I noticed the brake side used all the parts where the clutch did not use the end rubber ring behind the return spring, nor does it use the return spring end.

Is this right?

If you look at the cross section of the clutch, it also shows these parts as missing.

I am still troubleshooting my issue and want to eliminate this as a possibility.

Thanks.. Russ

The brake MC uses a check valve at the rear end. The clutch MC does not.

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing.

Wrenchbender...

That is the name of it... a check valve.

When I rebuilt the MC, both the cluth and brake had one installed. I wonder if that causes any problems. I bench bled the MC and now have to bleed it on the truck. Then I will know if I fixed my clutch problem.

Thanks.. Russ
