The old gas or a rich mixture can carbon them up causing missing.

Try and pin it down to what cyl is not doing its job, then you can start to look for why it's not.
Start with plugs, ign wires, cap, rotor, valve adj. and the list will grow if you haven't found it there.

It's possible that you have a fouled carb, from crud, water, etc. from the old tank. That happened to me with a VW that I rebuilt. It missed like crazy until I took the carb off and rebuilt it. I have been in this carb 6 or 8 times including today . finally I think I have found the culprit . piston power ( this is the brass tube with the brass barrel on one end that fits in the upper part or the carb with the big spring in it ) it wasn't getting enough travel because of plaque in the carb body . I rolled up a piece of 220 sand paper like a funny jamaican cigarette and polished it until the barrel moved smoothly , it goes in about 1 16 th into the hole when free . after that it was running like it was touched by god ! Try it , It wont cost a thing . | | |
