| | | | Joined: May 2008 Posts: 5 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: May 2008 Posts: 5 | did a search and didn't find to much. i took my hydrovac ('50 6400)off thinking it wasn't working but discovered problem was with master cylinder and length of rod. 2 questions - 1. is there a way to test this unit off the truck 2. does anybody have a source for parts? the number off the unit is "5 66 PC379494"

When I found a place with parts for that '59 Bnedix what I discovered was that the place in California that sold me the rebuild kit also did the actual rebuild for only about $100 more. When it comes to something like brakes, if you are an amature mechanic like me I suggest you have yours professionally rebuilt. You don't want to find out the hard way that you didn't do it quite right.

I've never done anything like that before but it was pretty strait forward. I think the price on a rebuilt was about $260 and I bought a kit for about $125. Mine uses a large leather washer in the vacum pot. That would have cost another $50.00 but I was able to clean mine up and make it work. I bought my stuff from Reman in Atlanta. I don't recomend them. They lost my order and then shipped it with missing parts. The parts they left out took over a week for them to ship. I think it was about a month before I had what I needed to get it done. | | |
