1) Different crossmember under the bellhousing.
2) The '53 has a transmission crossmember, the '54 does not.
3) The '54 has a lower kick-up over the rear axle to allow the deeper bed.
There are likely others, but these are the ones that come to mind.

Alot of peoples like the one piece windshield but the 47-53 grill. The front clips are a direct trade out. The beds can be interchanged by having the rear fenders on the bed, lower into position untill the running board to fender holes line up, and then measure and cut bed mount blocks to fit.
