For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 3,596 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 3,596 | I am in the process of negotiating the purchase of a 1952/53 GMC 253-22 I have looked on the GMC site and still a little unclear as to what a 250 is, does this equate to the Chevrolet 3800 or 1-ton chassis? http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2207505710102454676FsaQRU | | | | | Joined: May 2001 Posts: 7,438 Extreme Gabster | | Extreme Gabster Joined: May 2001 Posts: 7,438 | Yes a 250 is equivalent to a 3800 in capacity. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2003 Posts: 5,152 Cruising in the Passing Lane | | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Oct 2003 Posts: 5,152 | From the pictures it looks like a dual rear wheel truck. It will have 18 inch tires and 5.14 rear gears.
I have two GMC 250's and love them.
1955 1st GMC Suburban | 1954 GMC 250 trailer puller project | 1954 GMC 250 Hydra-Matic | 1954 Chevy 3100 . 1947 Chevy COE | and more... It's true. I really don't do anything but browse the Internet looking for trouble... | | | | | Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 3,596 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 3,596 | Thanks for the info it has been sitting 5-years but was a "running when parked" looks like I can close on it for $400 I am just waiting to hear if they will accept my offer they want it gone before winter. Will the 18" tires fit on the bigger trucks? If I part it I may save the set for slave wheels since they hold air.

As far as I know, the 18" wheels only fit the dual wheeled one tons. That truck needs to be saved and not parted from the picture I saw. It's begging to be saved. Be nice to it.
