Saw a post recently that showed an individual who made a flat bracket to mount to the triangular bolt holes on the side of a 261 block to mount one of the remote oil filter brackets for a spin on. Can't find the link and pictures anymore. Anyone know who posted them?

NM51 sent me his pics. Got pics from another site as well. My buddy, Hank is going to make me up plate to mount the oil filter mount. Got the kit from NAPA today. May go with the pressure rubber hoses if they bend well and no kinks. Pics to follow.

My only concern with rubber hoses was the possibilty that they'd rub against the exhaust manifold and get damaged, that's why I went with copper. Rubber hoses would have been a whole lot easier!

PS- I made my bracket using a scrap piece of steel stock I cut off a coil spring perch from an axel, a 4" grinder, cut off wheel and drill.

Remote oil filter is from NAPA and uses a Napa 1320 (By-Pass-Small hole) spin-on. This is the proper filter type for the 216/235 oiling system. DO NOT use a full flow type filter on those 2 engines as the oil system cannot flow the volume and still maintain proper engine lubrication. I used steel brake line instead of rubber oil lines. Been working great for many years.

Finally got my oil filter kit and installed it on the side of my 261. Updated my webshots page to show it installed.

Geezer-

Nice job! Looks great! I really like the flexible hose, just like the original full flow filter that came mounted on the intake! Lots easier than bending copper, and easier to replace if there is a problem.

Thanks NM! Saw the filter on the site you posted. Borrowed ideas from several inventive people. Even though the hoses are high temp and high pressure, I'm going to cover them with DEI Heath Sheath aluminized wrap. Totally flameproof, reflects up to 90% or so radiant heat up to 2000 degrees F. Just a safety factor I guess.

i'm rebuilding a 261. got the block drilled for remote oil filter. wondering if you new the kit no. from napa.

I didn't know that kit existed! Putting my remote filter together took some work 'cause I had to find all the right fittings, bend the copper, etc... That kit looks like the most efficient and economic way to go!

Liked your work on the "J" brace for the filter. Originally had my neighbor Hank make up a triangular plate to match the three motor mount holes and large enough to carry the filter flange. However, when I did the trial fit with the Fentons and the dual exhaust pipes, one of the hoses was right up against the rear exhaust pipe. Knew that I couldn't live with that so I made up the 7" straight iron plate and it essentially moved the filter towards the front of the engine about 4 or so inches. Much nicer and is at a level where I can easily remove the filter for oil changes. The rear pipe is about 1/2 to 3/4 inches away from the rear exhaust pipe on the dry fit and hopefully will clear by a little more once everything is bolted up firm. Still going to put on the heat sheath for some insurance though.
