I recently bought a Tennessee Truck in great shape but the vin plate on the top of the door has only 12 numbers in it! The part of the vin that appears on the frame matches it, the title matches it (I have seen the Georgia and Tennessee title)and they match also. According to what I have seen it should have 5 numbers after the letter C that begins it then the letter for the plant then 6 more numbers for the production number for a total of 11 numbers and 2 letters. Can someone help me figure this out?

The number is C1445A120282. It was listed as a 1964 but I am pretty sure it is a 1965 built in Atlanta (which would jive with the Georgia Title I saw)

All of the 60-66 trucks had 12 digit vins.

We should also be discussing this in the 60-66 forum

Weird! Tell that to Geico - the lady had to add another # in the front part of the VIN to get her computer to issue insurance! Thanks folks! I bought this truck for my husband for our 45th anniversary Friday! Was supposed to be a 64 but, what the heck, 65 was a great year for us too!
