| | | | Joined: Jul 2009 Posts: 42 Apprentice | | Apprentice Joined: Jul 2009 Posts: 42 | I was having a problem with driveline vibration because of incorrect transmission/driveshaft angle. I fixed the problem by using an Eckler's crossmember on my turbo400 on my '53 gmc. In doing so, I had to heat up and put a dent right in the curve of my header pipe to clear the front a-arm. I believe it decreased the size of the pipe by about 30%.
I plan on taking it to a muffler shop and having it fixed. I was just wondering if running it this way could burn my exhaust valves really fast or reduce power a LOT. The engine seems weaker since doing this although I've only driven it about 15miles. I need to drive it about 30 miles one way to the muffler shop. Would this be more than enough time to cause damage? The power drop may just be my imagination because I also forgot to put the exhaust gasket between the manifold and pipe flange and it's making an annoying noise so I didn't give it much throttle. Will fix that problem tonight.
