and i will agree it seems a little crude
after working on more modern engines but the cap bolts do fine and i think the caps move around a bit and get like they want to be.
i dont think it is a good idea to over turn these motors. philip | | | | | Joined: Jan 2009 Posts: 1,644 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2009 Posts: 1,644 | If You change to studs You are going to change the torque settings so it would not be the best thing to do and the cap would not index any better just dropping onto studs than installing it with bolts as long as the fit is good ( factory) between the bolt and the cap .
Pete | | | | | Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 | When I built mine, I asked the machine shop owner, who has been dealing with these engines forever it seems, about converting to studs. he told me it wasn't necessary, and that bolts do the job just fine. Plus, after doing some checking with a few stud sources, including ARP, no one makes the correct size studs for use with the Chevy 6 anyway.
