Everything working just fine until I turned on my heater. The fan ran a second or so and stopped. Now my amp doesnt show charging when I increase rpm as usual. It just stays in a fixed postion. Lights on make it show discharge but reving does nothing. Anyone got an idea?? I checked fuses and everything else my pea brain allowed. That heater motor fan has been rubbing on the housing and I think it finally stuck and stopped spinning. If you don't know the answer then you have to start there. Its just not chargeing as it usually does and it started doing this when I turned on the heater yesterday. Since then by the way the heater fan will not turn at all. I will check the generator but I just do know why it would stop charging at the precise moment I hit the heater switch. Then checked the A terminal on the gen and go zero then checked the coil and got correct RPM and Dwell but big fat zero on voltage SO I reckon my generator is shot. I hope that your test meter is OK. With the motor running, if you place a very temporary ground on the field at the generator, that should cause the A terminal on the generator to rise in voltage. That would indicate that the generator may be OK. You don't want to leave the ground on very long because on a healthy unloaded generator, the voltage can go to 20 volts. | | |
