I'm process of a chassis swap for my 1952 GMC using a 1993 S10. The S10 has 10.5 disc up front and G-Body drum brake rear end. I'm adding a sbc. I'm ready to rebuild the front suspension and front brakes. Has anybody found better parts to improve the front braking?

I'm going to do a tall spindle swap, which involves buying an aftermarket upper control arm(or modifying the stock one) and swapping in a set of fullsize car/truck spindles. You can end up w/either a 11 or 12inch rotor and either a 5x4.75 or 5x5 lug pattern depending on which spindle/rotor set up you get.
I got my spindle/rotor set up off of a late 90's Impala/Caprice and have a 5x4.75 pattern. This gives you larger rotors plus pushes your tire/rim combo out about 3/4inch or so...Joe

S/T trucks and G-bodies have the same crappy brakes pulled from the same crappy OE parts bin.

With that said, S-10 warehouse on Ebay sells 1998-2004 Blazer dual piston assemblies from the 2WD blazers. That adds a ton of extra braking. If you can find one in a local salvage yard for less than $200 get them.

I may clone an F-body 1LE brake setup with one of my trucks if I dont go with the dual piston brakes.

Joe's tall spindle swap is an easy fix as well.

SSBC makes a 12" rotor and 4-piston caliper setup for the F/S/T/G bodies that is a bolt-in. Wilwood, Tilton, and JFZ have bolt-in parts, however these are generally for the racing world, so they are sold as individual parts and not a complete kit (all the stuff is in the catalogs)

There is also an F-body kit to run Gen 4 brakes on the Gen 3 cars which would work with minor modifications.

Where in WI are you located, I can point you to a few salvage yards.

Where did you find the upper control arms and how much were they? The ones I've seen run from $300 to $600 plus frt.

UB machine for uppers. $42 each. Coleman products (Coleman Wisconsin) has them for $45 each. Stock lowers are fine. The G-bodies are the basis for most late-model and Mid-Am race cars, hence the reason parts are cheep. Rules dont allow tubular lowers, so those are hard to come by cheep.

If you pay more than that you got taken. Infact Global West has a complete kit with uppers and lowers for about $500.

ubmachine.com

They are currently upgrading their web site so you will have to wait a bit.

Joe, that is for the GM Metric, in either a straight up, or offset.

Colemans site is http://www.colemanracing.com/

Looks like Coleman has raised their prices from last year.
