The process removes rust, paint and undercoating. Anyone have any experience? | | | | | Joined: Aug 2007 Posts: 1,859 Grumpy old guy playing with trucks, cars, and boats | | Grumpy old guy playing with trucks, cars, and boats Joined: Aug 2007 Posts: 1,859 | I had my Opel GT acid dipped. dont know if I would do it again with another vehicle when media blasting is cheep.

What is the company and where is it located. I cannot find blasters or dippers in my area and I prefer not to do his job myself.

In fact Scott, they were right down the road from you in Union Grove. Did a great job and the parts looked like brand new sheet metal. Here, take a look see. http://www.pbase.com/dennygraham/the_stripper Denny Graham Sandwich, IL

I was told that bleeding through the paint can occur. The shop that was doing this type of acid dipping told me that usually, its best after the dip, to put it into their oven for 8 hrs to make sure everything was completely dry & cooked out. They offer a full guarantee that it would not bleed through. The cost was very high. So I went to media blasting for half the cost. They said the problem is usually caused when some of the acid stays into inner & outer seams or panels that don't drain and dry out as well as just a plain surface would. Hope this helps. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2008 Posts: 283 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Oct 2008 Posts: 283 | GMCAMARO,

Nice guys to work with and they had mine done in less than a week. Did they show ya the black chrome they are doing? Thats a really cool process. DG

The bumpers are just the triple chrome ones I got from one of the vendors a couple of years ago, think it was JC but at my age I can't remember back that far. Denny Graham Sandwich, IL
