When I went to get it the Spear on the side had a 32. I thought that half-tons were either 3100 or 31, making 3200 or 32 a 3/4 ton. The guy I bought truck from said, No, that Chevy stopped making 3100's in 1954 and all half tone's after that were designated 3200 or 32. I didn't really believe him, and now on this forum I'm seeing 1/2 tons with the 3100 designation. My question: What's the difference between a 3100, 31, 3200 and 32. Thanks.
Looking forward to starting work on the truck. It runs great, I drove it over 90 miles home. But it has a lot of body problems - rust through, dents, crinkles, etc.

Specifically in the brake department. The diameter of the hard lines for the brakes are also different from a 3100 except for the rear axle lines. I went back and forth with Inline Tube for a while on this until finally it was resolved and they sent me the correct lines. Great thread! Learned that the difference in the length of the lines is not due to the chassis or bed lengths but different placement and angles of the lines. The lines for the shortbed are actuallt longer than the lines for the longbed (if I understood the post correctly). Thanks | | |
