Hello all,
I just wanted to make a couple of corrections to my original story. The correct original color of my truck in Mariner Blue, my transmission date code I had it off by one month, it should read assemblied October 7, 1948. The radiator code of 58E translates to May 1958 production date. I also discovered the distributor date code of 8L17 which tranlates to Dec 17, 1948 date of manufacture. I discovered some production dates? stencled on the TOP of my back doors of 9-15-?? last two digits were unreadable, but the 9-15 was on both doors. Another prodution note that I found on-line was the 1948 total production of 3805's was 6641 trucks from all the plants across the country.
I have added a "New" album in my Webshots account so once you link to Webshots look at the "New" album and you can see pictures of some of the items mentioned above. Also I up-graded my spotlights to bigger Unity's, added Guide fog lamps, an additional taillight/stoplight assembly, a roof mounted spotlight, turn signal switch on the steering colum, and just pictures of what the truck looks like today.
