Is there supposed to be something in there and, if so, what does it look like? I've searched the forums but didn't find anything on this particular subject.

It's the "oil cavity" below it that's empty. Is there supposed to be felt or something in there to soak up the oil for the rear bushing? Or are the replacement bushings oil-impregnated bronze that require no lubrication?

The oldtime generator rebuilding kits included new oil wicks, along with bushings and other small parts necessary to do a good rebuilding job. Jerry
