Bigmike, Are you going to keep the original drum brakes or go to disks in front. If you are keeping the orig drums, no need for a prop. valve you can get a master for a 69 mustang (drums front & rear). That's what I have done on my 46 it works great. You'll have to fab a mounting bracket but it's an easy job.

If you would like to see a couple of pictures I can email them to you. (sorry unable to post here)

There are several companies that sell a bracket and dual master for your truck.

If you are confident in your abilities, you could find a truck or large car similar to yours that came factory with a dual master and four drums, then go to your Friendly Local Auto Parts Store (FLAPS) and buy one.

If you want to spend $100+ on a bracket you can buy one aftermarket. Or you could search the postings here for pictures of the bracket, and maybe look at the catelogs/webpages to get an idea of the bracket's shape and configuration and then built it yourself.

If you can't build it for lack of a welder or grinder, you can make it out of cardboard and take it to a metal shop where they can build it for you.

Try the search button at the top right corner of the forum home page and read a few of the threads posted here.

I bought the master, bracket, combo valve and proportioning vavles with a booster for my '51 (disc/drum) from CPP. I wish when I had bought it that I had gotten a dual diaphram for $30 extra just because with the cam in my engine at speed I've got less vacuum. Next time I do it I'll build my own bracket and buy a master and 7" dual diaphram booster from a mustang.

Both you gentlemen have huck brakes. My '53 is Bendix, does that make any difference? I want a dual master cylinder and this looks promising.
46forme, I would like some pictures if you don't mind. cows_come_home7 -at- hotmail.com

NM51, please do tell who makes a bracket to put a dual master in our Art Deco (37-46) trucks.

46forme has made a nice one, I plan to copy it at some point. I can post a link here if anyone needs it. For those of you that are fabrication challenged, I will let you know when I get to the point of making one (some time this summer) and make a few more.

Colin, search the archives. 47-55.1 has been covered lots of times on this board. You can buy the bracket from CPP, ECI, MasterPower and they can sell you the mustang master to go with it. The bracket for Advance Design is different than that for Art Deco.

4.3in84toy-

My bad- Thought your post said 47 not 41- I don't know if anyone makes a bracket for yours. If it were me I'd build my own with a little help.

What I did for the master cylinder and hydraulic throw out bearing set up I put in my AD is to take the master cylinder to a metal shop in town. When I got there I picked out a piece of 3/8" steel stock about 4 x 18 and had the metal shop drill three holes at one end- One big hole for the bore of the master cylinder and two smaller holes for the mounting bolts. Then I took it home and cut and welded that piece to fit using my grinder with a cut-off-wheel, hobby welder and drill. By the time I was finished I had changed it a couple of times but now I'm happy with it and it bolts to the stock pedal!

Has anyone used the power brake booster from classic chevy parts, inc? On page 87 of the catalog they have a brake booster listed for 40-46 chevy and gmc pickups that includes 7inch booster, dual master, mounting hardware, and the pedal arm. All this for the low price of $379.95. I was looking into this but I don't want a booster and an extra vacuum line to hook up.

bbsd, do you have a website for that company, I can't find it.

Sounds like the kind of setup you use when putting a V8 and automatic in the truck.

4.3 I think I found this company on the links page. They sent a free catalog to me about 2 days after I requested it.

www.classiccheveroletparts.com
(405)631-4400 phone. I called them up about this part but couldn't get an answer to my satisfaction. they told me all of these trucks had the master cylinder mounted to the frame. I wanted to know how much fabrication would be needed to make it work with stock pedals, espeacially the clutch pedal.

Did anyone come up with a working dual master cylinder arrangement for the '41-46 Deco series? I emailed Cletis and he responded that the brackets listed with CPP would more than likely not work for this application. From what I gather the best Master Cylinder is from a '69 Mustang and the bracket needs to be fabricated.

George aka 46forme - If you have a pix of your bracket I would much appreciate it.

Thanks in advance,

Don

Don,
Do you have the master cylinder that is mounted on the bellhousing, or the one that is mounted to the frame rail?

Don, I sent you some pictures. For everyone else I am going to be doing my T5 swap in a week or so, and I plan on taking some more pictures of my bracket all by it's self. The pictures I have now are of the installed unit. So some individual pictures might be helpfull.

Yup! Looks like it is mounted to the 3 speed too! Some of the trucks with the 4 speeds, and all of the larger trucks had a master cylinder that was mounted reversed on the frame. There was a different clutch/brake pedal bracket that went with them. In my opinion it would be a better setup to start with if you are planning to use a booster, or switching to another transmission.
