made an error in my previous post by incorrectly refering to the clutch disc as the "pressure plate". (lack of sleep or old age). anyway the disc isn't marked "flywheel side" so I installed it with the high cone of the center spline toward the flywheel. I think this is correct but am looking for some reassurance.

The higher cone side of your clutch disc should face the flywheel. I believe it will lay flat on the flywheel facing either direction, but if the high side is facing the transmission it will hit the diaphragm spring in the pressure plate assembly and it won't fit together, so your only option is to have the high side face the flywheel as you suggested.
