Hey all,
New guy here from MD with a '46 Chevy 1/2 ton project on my hands. I drove a '66 C20 LWB with a 292 through college, but sold it a couple years ago when I needed the money (man I miss that truck). Anyway, I've got my grandfather's '46 1/2 ton to restore now and it's pretty rough so bear with me. He bought it used in the early 50's, and when he couldn't run it on the street anymore it became the farm truck, so you can imagine that shape she's in now. Actually, the cab isn't bad at all. Good floors, good door skins, the corners were fiberglassed so I gotta blast them clean and get patch panels. My uncle started restoring it in the 70's or 80's and lost interest, so now it's my headache smile

The 216 was rebuilt by my uncle, but parked with straight water and the block's now cracked. My plans are a mild update with a nice 235, keep the stock trans but add an overdrive unit (doesn't gear vendors make one?), etc. The biggest issue is that the bed/running boards/rear fenders are 100% gone. I'm thinking a tasteful wooden flatbed in yellow pine. Anyway, good to be here, and now for the constant questions.

John

EDIT: I should add that there's also a '49 Chevy 5-window 2-ton on the farm still that my brother has laid restoration claims to. We've got the stovebolt bug over here.

Fairly substantial group of us down in southern MD. Happy to have you join. If you make it down to St Mary's County - stop in.
