Hello,

I'm attempting to assess and repair the wiring in my '40 1/2 ton. There is a relatively new wiring harness making many of the critical connections but also lots of new wires that don't go anywhere and some original wires that are still hanging around.

Does anyone have a wiring harness diagram from a newer harness? (don't know the brand)

thanks - Doug (truckin39)

i had this too in my 63, most of the excess wire was for a radio...you'll have to get a wiring diagram i'm sure, i got mine from ebay, but lots of companies sell them for less than 10 dollars. have u checked into that yet? let me know....

diagrams aren't for harnesses, they're for vehicles - assuming you're talkin a fairly stock '40, you need to make the right connections with whatever wire you have - the 41 diagram will do it

Thanks Bill and 63lwbc10,

Bill your 41 diagram is quite useful and quite a bit more complex than my '40 diagram (lots more lights). They also reoriented the diagram in 41 that maps to the car - Headlights on one end, tail lights on the other - which is much better than the abstract layout of the '40. The added complexity is also better due to the fact that my '40 now has tail lights and blinkers too!

Cheers,

Doug

Those aftermarket wiring kits are great. I got one for a 1954 corvett from Letrics and it came with a laminated 2 ft. by 3 ft. schematic I now have mounted on my garage wall. Talk about fun to install @#$%^&. Because the Vet is fiberglass everything electric has a seperate ground wire. Hell the antenna (a flat plate located inside the deck lid between layers of fiberglass) has a ground wire.

I didn't do it, no one saw me do it, you can't prove anything! "Bart Simpson"
