Ok experts, need your help.

Does a 168 tooth flywheel and the matching 12V starter work in a 48-53 Chev Bellhousing?

I know that the 139 tooth flywheel and the appropriate 6V starter works.

Hoping somebody can help confirm my combination. I am building up a 49 burb and was wondering if this combination would work.

I have a 48 bellhousing on a 261 motor bolted into a 49 burb. I would like to use the matching 168 tooth flywheel for the 261 since it's ground and ready to go, but I am not sure if the 12V matching starter will work with that bellhousing. I called Patrick and he wasn't sure. I konw where I can get one, but don't want to buy it until I know.

If I need to scrounge up a 139 t flywheel and 6V starter, then so be it, but thought I would check her first guys. Thanks in advance

Hy pplummer, as far as I know all the starter mounts for the 216/235/261 engines are in the same place, so the 12 volt starter and flywheel in your application should work just fine, hope that helps.

Thanks 3B. I'll go ahead and order up the starter, pressure plate and clutch.

That's good news Jeff. I just got my starter and pressure plate and clutch on Friday. I was going to install it this weekend, but I need to call my machinist to see how much he took off the flywheel to see if I need to shim it.
