I was reorganizing the spagetti of wires under the hood after the new harness install and the dome light came on. I turned the light switch but the light stayed on....had to pull the bulb.....what is that about. Tomorrow its back under the dash to check it out....any ideas before I start.

The dome light is operated off the dash light dimmer rheostat on the light switch. Turning the light switch knob clock wise brightens the dash lights and all the way turns the dome light on. No idea how cleaning up the wiring under the hood would affect the dome light. The dome light wire doesn't go under the hood at all, not on factory wiring. The Dome light wire should go down the kick panel under the matting above the rocker panel and up to the Dome. Hope that helps.

on the early 60's chevys at least the bulb has juice going to it all the time and is only activeted by the switch by grounding it. in reorginizing the spagetti maybe you grounded the wire to switch. like always, i may be wrong.

Thanks guys....if I get time today I will check out the switch, I also think I have grounded the dome light wire to the switch....any I will let you know.
