I have a 1956 GMC 3/4 ton and the floor is swiss cheese. I got a new tranny cover, but I am going to have to fabricate the rest of the floor....

Thanks,

Dave

16 gauge is good for the floor.

16 gauge is way overkill. Original was 20 gauge.

The upper portions of the cab were 19 gauge and I believe the floor was 16 gauge. It is definitely thicker than the sides.

Unless you especially want to make something yourself, they make repops that have the siffners already in them. There is a guy who sells them on eBay. He lists them ever so often. Here's one I bought recently and I am well pleased with it and all the other parts I have bought from him. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=350248482612&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT They are galvanized so I wear a supplied air helmet when I weld them.
