I just gave it a treat of reworked head (new stainless steel valves,new rods,)put her back together and can't keep a good spark. New coil,new points,new plugs still no spark! I had the same problem on my '49 3100. Turns out it was a faulty ignition switch. Sometimes the switch worked, sometimes it didn't. Try running a #10 wire directly from the + battery terminal to the coil.
