I put in the serial number for my grandpa's '47 Loadmaster, and the VIN Buster said it was built in 1962. Anybody know why such a confusion?

What is the serial number?

Is it from the door plate or from the engine?

That probably means you entered the engine number instead of the body serial number.

VIN is a confusing term because it has a legal meaning that just doesn't fit our old trucks very well.

I used the plate from the door frame. Here's a link to the picture. http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd33/jdbjicase/100_0825.jpg

I don't have the engine serial number, and it would be a different date as well. Dad told me engine was replaced many years ago with a unit from the 50's. Here's a picture of the truck. http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd33/jdbjicase/100_0819.jpg

Does that look like something from 1962? Ha ha.

no it doesn't look like a 62, but 210WK4524 doesn't look like a 47 vin either and the vin buster only works with the factory designations .... not sure the pattern or model designations for 47, but I believe it should be one number, 2 letters at the beginning, which would identify the model, some one here with a 47.2 will know

No the truck looks like a '47 or '48. Its hard to be sure without some more specific pictures.

Try running that number as 21owk4524. It then comes out as a school bus made in November 1946 instead of as a '62. I'm betting you've been running it as 210wk4524.

So what does the title say? Either the Vin Buster and more than one of the references online are wrong, or you've got a problem with the serial number tag on that truck.

I just read your question tonight, sorry. IT seemed so familiar it amazed me!!! When I first tried to use VIN buster, my 47 loadmaster also came up as a 1962 ...Soo I started digging, rechecked my original title against the trucks serial plate on the door piller, and they looked like a match...then after fustration I figured one of the "documented" items might be wrong..bingo
MY serial number on the title states:20j11459 and my serial plates looks "Really" the same. I replaced the O with a Q and guess what....yup a fat finger or bad eyes from someone down the road.... I ran your serial number on Vin Buster and replaced the O with a Q ( 21QK4524 )...Does this look like your truck ??

Your 'VIN Buster' Results ..

Serial # : 21QK4524
Mfg Year : 1947
Model : 1.5 ton
Wheelbase : 161 inches
Plant : Janesville, WI

Regards
